Mindfulness – staying in the moment

In Buddhism, the wisdom is that the way to stop suffering (i.e. anxiety, craving, yearning etc) is to live in the moment. Using a mindfulness meditation that focuses on your breath, you can achieve a peaceful state of appreciation for what is happening right now, heighten awareness of where you are and what you are doing so that you a less likely to be overly reactive or overwhelmed by what is happening around you. In this way you can achieve clarity of mind and ability to focus.

Often I will include a peaceful visual journey involved too – a sort of storytelling – to keep the mind interested in the moment rather than being cluttered with unwanted thoughts.
